History of Just Breathe Miami
My name is Kori Ascher. I am a Sleep Medicine Physican atUniversity of Miami UHealth Sleep Center as well as Pulmonary & Critical Care (ICU) Medicine physician at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami. Throughout career I have already met so many good people with debilitating pulmonary diseases that inevitably consume their lives and lives of their loved ones. Many of the medications or treatments prescribed are not free, cheap, or easy to tolerate. I created this non-profit organization Just Breathe Miami to raise awareness to aforementioned disease. Ideally with knowledge of the disease they will be more a topic of discussion without prejudice. Just Breathe Miami is associated with an annual fundraiser dedicated to a different breathing related disease each year. In addition to the medical management already provide from the medical side, this is a way for us all (healthcare workers, patients, families, caretakers, community, society) to come together, connect with our patients, and share our support for those people significantly impacted by pulmonary disease...... those who struggle to just breathe.
